Italian Roast Pork Loin (Porchetta)

December 18, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

“Some of my fondest memories of Italy are entering a trattoria from a cold and damp Winter street, to the warmth and smell of a porchetta turning slowly on a spit in front of a wood fire…”

A Christmas Memory

December 17, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

…Tender delicate pieces of living that could go unnoticed but for the stripped down pace we are so very lucky to live. One where the neighboring horses have come to expect our passing, where the dogs, once hungry, gallop alongside us in strength and health…

Snow! More Snow!

December 14, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I do know there is beauty wherever we are if we make ourselves available to it—in New York City, in Seattle, around a table where a meal is being shared… its everywhere.

A Christmas Card From Truchas, New Mexico

December 13, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Wishing you all the peace of a country Christmas as you prepare for the holidays.

A Winter Treat: Sweet Cream Biscuits

December 12, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

My first thought upon taking the first bite of Kim’s Sweet Cream Biscuits was one of surprise. They are beautifully, subtly, elegantly sweet! And they are also filled with another flavor. How can I describe it? It is round and nutty–the flavor of baked butter.

Being An Artist Can Be Hard

December 11, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I am walking my path, pursuing my dream, following my bliss, so I understand I’m incredibly lucky. And yet I’m also unsettled because this life is hard. Being an artist is hard. There. I’ve said it.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
