Simple Beauties–Luxuriating in the Small Stuff

December 3, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Everything was as I thought it would be: soft, sumptuous, embracing, delicious… But some things are meant to be kept as sweet memories and not shared with the world…

Happy Sunday! A Brilliant Moment in Time

December 2, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

One of the many purposes of the High Road Artist blog is a hope of giving people a moment of quiet calm and a reminder of what already exists in their lives if they only take the tiniest bit of time to appreciate it.

Dark Chocolate Pie With Raspberry Sauce

November 30, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

The first thought I had upon taking my first bite of this revelation of a pie was that it would make a wonderful gift. Better still, hand deliver it and stay for a cup of coffee and, of course, a slice of chocolate pie.

Trusting the Leap

November 30, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Silently, I climbed the stairs to the second floor. Surrounded by thunderstorms off in the distance, the fragrance of rain on the air, I raised my glass and toasted the life I didn’t yet know.

The Trading Post Cafe, Taos, NM for the Holidays

November 29, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

The other day Anna and I decided we just had to get away, so we headed to our favorite restaurant in Taos, The Trading Post Cafe and of course it was spectacular.

Finding Grace Through Rest

November 28, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

“The pillows supporting your back tell you it’s okay/ to spend two days a month on the sofa/ Its soft red curves remind you the world has this way
of moving itself along without your toil… This is rest. This is ease. Maybe even grace…”

Puzzling Myself Back Together Again

Mountains through the Trees

I wrote about experiencing a sort of shattering when I first arrived in Truchas. So I’ve been picking through the land, gathering up the pieces, assembling them into a new pronouncement of me.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
