Where Do You Belong?

November 25, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Micaceous pot by Bernadette Track, Taos Pueblo

I was born an artist and I think, by nature, most artists are different. We seem to be wired for the lives we must live in order to make our art. I finally quit trying to push my square-peg self into the always-round hole…

How Do You Know?

November 24, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

My Neighbors

I have a secret to tell you: living your dream isn’t everything you think it will be. It isn’t, necessarily, the final or the whole answer. I think I thought living every day as a working artist, was it. But, in fact, it was just the beginning.

Wishing You Peace

November 23, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

We are taught, in our culture, that the holidays are about buying; getting and giving. But I wish this for all of us: Remembering our loved ones and the times we’ve spent together. THINGS don’t make up a life, as I know you all know. Love makes a life.

Readers Write: Alison DiPietro Offers a “Snapshot” of Her Life

November 23, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Alison DiPietro is a reader, painter and nurse. She responded to my request for communication from you all with photos of her life. I LOVE that! Any of you who feel more inclined to tell parts of your stories with photographs, please follow Alison’s lead.

What Are Your Obsessions?

November 22, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

There’s actually a reason for my confession (you all knew there would be, right?). I got to thinking and I came to the conclusion that I can’t be the only one with these kinds of dark secrets. You all have to have them too.

The Minimalists Blog: Interesting Inspiration

November 21, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

“Maybe you’re dying to do something different with your life. But it doesn’t seem sensible to make a big change, to do something different, does it? After all, you’re tied to your soul-crushing job… “

Another Simple and Delicious Fall Soup

November 20, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Kim, inspired by yesterday’s butternut squash soup, decided to make his fabulous Leek and Potato which, of course, filled the house with wondrous smells. This soup would make a nice addition to your holiday weekend menus.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
