An Excellent New Year’s Resolution

January 2, 2013 by Jeane George Weigel

I am still sick. I tell you this not to garner your sympathy or to whine, but because it is an elegant lesson I’m being offered. I’m being reminded that I don’t get to dictate what will be.

Wishing You A Very Happy New Year

January 1, 2013 by Jeane George Weigel

… because as much as some of us require and embrace solitude, the contemplative life, the still quiet of a high desert New Year’s morning, what do we have without each other?

A Love Affair With Wood

December 31, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Gathering wood today for cooking and warming fires is an activity as old, beautiful and essential as the ancient need was, up here in the high desert.

Pancakes and Good Coffee

December 30, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I woke up REALLY early this morning–just more evidence that I’m getting better I think–and I got to start my day with delicious buttermilk pancakes, excellent coffee, good company and a passel of pets curled up all around me.

Coming Down the Mountain

December 29, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I frequently write about “driving down the mountain,” but I haven’t ever offered you a photographic “tour” of doing so. Yesterday I had a great opportunity to create a visual for you.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
