Hiking Close to Home

June 2, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

And then, standing in that crisp desert air, the sound of a hawk sliced the sky. We looked up to see the redtail circling majestically above us…

Adventures in the Art of Bread Making

May 15, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

Since I first started to learn about cooking, bread has held a great fascination for me. I wanted to be able to duplicate the wonderful French baguette and Italian round loaves that I had known in Europe.

Retreat!

April 13, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

… turn that long, painful look inside to the feelings generated within us by what we see–because those feelings we can do something about. Those we can heal. But we don’t get to heal things that are outside of us.

Ah, Life! Blessed Life…

Those of us who grow do so by developing our moral imaginations and expanding our carrying capacities for pain and bliss…” Mary Pipher, New York Times

Isabro Ventura “Charro” Ortega, at Home in the Clouds

August 21, 2018 by Jeane George Weigel

Isabro seemed to embody the spirit of what used to be, bearing history and the generations, in his bones. He was of this place. He was ancient and he was a child. A force of nature.

The Sugar Nymphs Bistro, Peñasco, NM

May 23, 2018 by Jeane George Weigel

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
