Continuing

May 2, 2020 by Jeane George Weigel

So let’s take this occasion and make the effort to deeply seek out our core during our present unprecedented time of stopping. Let’s breathe. Let’s pay attention to the certainty that is revealed now that we’re quiet.

Times of Trouble

March 15, 2020 by Jeane George Weigel

This is the time for us to pull together as a people, as a nation, as a world. We must find the grace to forgive, to set aside our differences, our politics. We must stand strong together and we will find the path that endures.

Spirit Horse Gallery, Chimayo,NM

December 21, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

So when I say this work she does was handed down through the generations, she didn’t have a mother or a grandmother, a father, teaching her these traditions. They were in her. In her blood. She carries within her the antiquity of a people she never knew as her own.

How Do We Grow?

December 20, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

What is it about the dark emotions that repel me? Why do I resist and deny them, even hide myself away when I’m in them? They are part of being human.

Magic

September 12, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

I am starting to believe again. I am opening to the goodness in the world. Is it possible that I am beginning to trust? Beginning to learn how to receive?

Dennis Hopper in Taos

June 26, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

“In the late 1960s at the height of his career, Dennis Hopper left Hollywood for artistic bohemia in New Mexico. His daughter looks back on a man in search of free expression and a more contemplative way of life.” This from the NYT tmagazine blog.

Georgia O’Keeffe’s White Place

June 18, 2019 by Jeane George Weigel

I did not set out seeking Georgia as so many seem to do. I just went on a hike with friends. It didn’t occur to me until days later that we were in Georgia O’Keeffe’s White Place.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
