Breakdown

November 26, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

Nick is the kind of guy who is all too rare these days. He loves his work, he’s very smart and good at what he does, and he’s honest. His office walls are covered with thank you letters and photos from grateful clients who found themselves in trouble out in the middle of the Utah desert and who, like us, were saved by Nick.

Possibility Within Impossibility

November 17, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

Stepping out of the trailer into the darkness of predawn, the stars still shining in the morning sky, an owl high on the cliffs above us softly hooting…

Back and Forth/Winter/Spring

April 25, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

… listening to birdsong as I hang out the laundry (the larks are back and nesting, mapping out their territories in song, so it is particularly splendid right now), the toads croaking their hearts out in the little acequia that runs through my land…

Saying Goodbye to Mabel

April 6, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

Haunted wouldn’t be a term I would use. I don’t think when one loved as much as Mabel did, when one believed in things greater than herself and was committed to creating something beautiful, something better, for those of us coming along behind, those people don’t haunt.

Heading to Mabel’s

March 22, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

I just discovered there’s a lunar eclipse tomorrow morning (and a full moon which I already knew about of course), while I’m snug, high up in the sky, in my glass-walled nest. This just can’t be a coincidence, can it?

Retreat and Rebirth

March 20, 2016 by Jeane George Weigel

I’m packing a bag and some books and heading down to Taos to stay in Mabel Dodge Luhan’s old house. Really. I am. I can’t believe it myself, but it’s true.

Sunrise, Sunset

And there are also things you can do if you find yourselves or your loved ones faced with this very wrong situation. I urge you to go to medicareadvocacy.org and familiarize yourselves with your rights and the steps you can take to protect yourselves and those you love.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
