Celebrating the Day of My Birth

June 15, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

Jeane at 25

Wisdom Wednesdays are usually quotes from others that I’ve found inspiring through the years. However, I just came across some writings of mine written in 1997 and in 1995 that I wanted to share. This is the fourth of those and the first that was written in 1995 before I hemorrhaged: A Poem to Celebrate […]

I Begin With the Grasses

June 13, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

Truchas Field

It’s actually hard to say where these paintings begin because they come from such a deep part of me, from a connection with and respect for this land, from the life I’ve been exploring since coming here. I am different because of this place. Perhaps the paintings begin there—in that difference. But, at least on […]

My Block

First Snow

Wisdom Wednesdays are usually quotes from others that I’ve found inspiring through the years. However, I just came across some writings of mine written in 1997 and in 1995 that I wanted to share. This is the third of those, written in 1997: My Block I’m just finishing a painting of the trees in my […]

Roommates

Weigel House

Wisdom Wednesdays are usually quotes from others that I’ve found inspiring through the years. However, I just came across some writings of mine written in 1997 and in 1995 that I wanted to share. This is the second of those, written in 1997: Roommates Sam’s my roommate. Sort of. She lives in the apartment I […]

Bill Loyd’s Sign for Tooley’s Trees

May 27, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

Tooleys Trees

My friend, Bill Loyd, (see previous post The Farmer’s Mantra) goes to scrap yards looking for inspiration and he finds it in cast off items most of us would overlook. He found just such a piece in an antique tank car “head” from the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway at Capitol Scrap in Santa […]

Can You Follow Your Heart?

May 26, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

59 - Solitude

I just watched a movie from Netflix that was unexpectedly inspiring called Morning Glory. In it a young woman was facing obstacles in pursuing her dream. Her mother told her that, at her age, continuing to believe had become an embarrassment. She continued anyway and, through it all, she found a way to be kind. […]

Starting Over

May 25, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

High Road Artist Number 100

Wisdom Wednesdays are usually quotes from others that I’ve found inspiring through the years. However, I just came across some writings of mine written in 1997 and in 1995 that I wanted to share. This is the first of those, written in 1997. I titled it Starting Over: On March 8th, 1996 I almost died. […]

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
