Petree’s Nursery and Greenhouses, Taos, NM

April 16, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

As most of you know, we have two wonderful new planters at the gallery with a third on the way soon. So Anna and I headed down to Taos the other day to buy plants at the wonderful Petree’s Nursery and Greenhouses

Cats Being Cats

April 15, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I don’t know how many of you live with cats, but those of us who do, know they really love their comforts. I took this picture of my crew on a cold day after that big snowstorm we had. I really should have shot a series, because they were following the patches of sun across the bed.

My House From the Gallery

April 14, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I’ve shared so many photos with you all of my house and yard and the views I see from them. But the other day, while sitting the gallery, I realized I’d never given you a perspective of where I live. This view of my house from the gallery is one of my favorites.

The Truelove by David Whyte

“The Truelove” A lovely poem by David Whyte about the courage to finally say, “yes” to life.

“Even When I’m Not Painting, I’m Painting”

April 9, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I haven’t been painting. For months and months. I feared I might never paint again, truth be told. But my good friend, Kim, saw me through this crisis by giving me the same advice I would naturally give to any of you: even when I’m not painting, I’m painting.

Fin in His Bankie

April 8, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

His little ears were popsicles, not to mention the rest of him. I had tossed his bankie into the drier to get it warm, anticipating this. I only wish I could have taken a photo of the sigh emanating from my boy when I wrapped him up.

Spring Snow!

April 7, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

It has been 60 and 70 degrees up here in Truchas, New Mexico. Song birds had arrived, the grasses were putting up shoots of new growth, trees were beginning to bloom, we were playing games outside in our shirtsleeves–until the other night.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
