Traveling the Low Road in Northern New Mexico

Most of you are very familiar with the High Road at this point but I doubt that many of you are aware of the Low Road. What you may not understand, even about the High Road, is that it is the old highway that connects Santa Fe and Taos, dotted with beautiful little Spanish land grant villages along the way. The Low Road is the NEW highway that connects Santa Fe and Taos.

An Artist’s Journey – Donna J. Caulton

There are so many ways to describe the pathway to calling oneself an artist and to permitting that artist inside to develop and sustain a vision. The stories that come to the forefront of memory differ from one day to the next.

Welcoming Sunrise

Lately I’ve been particularly aware of the mornings, just after sunrise. Perhaps its because the days have been so hot and our mornings are always cool, especially when we’ve had rain the night before.

Welcoming the Monsoons!

Amazing what this high desert can do with a little water. The grasses are lush, the wild flowers proliferating. And the afternoons are consistently cooled by rumbling storms and rainclouds.

The Anna Karin Gallery

Some of you have written, recently, wondering about my association with the Anna Karin Gallery, so I wanted to clear up any confusion you might have. While I am represented by Hand Artes Gallery in Truchas, The Anna Karin Gallery is the joint project I do with my friend, Anna Karin.

The Yak of Truchas, New Mexico

I promised to share photos of the yak today. There was a bull, two cows and two babies in this small herd. There was something incredible about seeing them out in the wild like this.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
