Readers Write: A Forum for Communicating With Readers

I have read so much of your blog. But, while inspiring, it leaves many questions unanswered. Some, I imagine, you consider too personal. But my answer to that would be that given the spiritual nature of this blog, you might consider becoming more vulnerable…

Clarissa Pinkola Estes on Being True to Ourselves

Rather than understand that the beauty of her soul shines through when she is being herself, the woman changes the subject and effectively snatches nourishment away from the soul-self, which thrives on being acknowledged.

Vote Today! Honor Our Ancestors

I thought I would honor the memory of these strong women by posting their story today on election day. Every one of us, Democrat or Republican, man or woman, need to get out and vote.

Letting Go, the Natural Order of Things

This seems to be a natural order of things, the cycle of life, birthing and dying, coming and going, yet we human beings often have trouble with the idea of letting go. We hold on, sometimes fiercely–to old ways of being…

Small Pleasures: Finding Joy Where it’s Least Expected

I got up REALLY early today, which I love. My clock said 4AM but we all know it was really 5. Welcome to the biannual time change everybody (except for those of you in Arizona)!

Beauty Offered Every Single Day

I swear that dog appreciates beauty. Perhaps this comes from his previous life, neglected and chained up, nearly starved to death. And I’ve made a vow to myself. I’m taking a lesson from Finn…

An Antidote for Pain

I have considered creating an alter ego for High Road Artist, a sort of “High Road Artist Exposed—the Dark Side,” an outlet where I can whine and NOT find the silver lining. And, while the thought made me laugh…

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
