High Road Artist

You know I couldn’t wait to show you our planters once we put in the flowers! We’ve held back the blue morning glories and the black eyed susans until we can be sure of no frost. But most of the rest are planted.

Starting a gallery up here on the High Road to Taos is a bit different than what most of you would face in other areas. For one thing the High Road is famous to art tourists, so a certain amount of high caliber traffic is built in. Lucky us.

How many artists does it take to get a big old couch into an ancient adobe studio? Anna and I found this great old couch at Pieces in Taos (a fabulous thrift store) last month and put it on layaway. We were SO EXCITED to move it into the studio that’s attached to our gallery.

Another sign of spring is when the farmers and ranchers up here on the mountain dig fresh trenches from the acequias to their various fields. Much as I often wish it was otherwise, Kelee adores few things more than to take a dip in the fresh, running water that courses through them.
