Don’t Get Over It!

Re-Birthday

I have had this article, originally published in a small northwest magazine called Common Ground, and written by Melissa West, since sometime in the early 80’s. It spoke to me then and it still does now. Its subject is in keeping with our conversations over the last couple of weeks, so I wanted to share […]

Fra Giovanni Giocondo

59 - Solitude

My friend, Grace Kane, who has been a supporter of this blog since its inception, sent this piece to me saying she thought it was lovely. I agree with her and I wanted to publish it on this Wisdom Wednesday so more of you can enjoy it. I also thought it was pertinent to the […]

Why Today is so Important – The Daffodil Principle

Being Humbled

This is much longer than the other pieces I’ve posted on Wisdom Wednesdays but I just love its message — and aren’t we all feeling spring in the air? Let this acknowledge its coming and help us remember to cherish it when it does. Once AGAIN, I don’t have the name of its author: Several […]

Dust If You Must

All that Glitters

I’m really liking these “Wisdom Wednesdays”. It gives me a chance to share meaningful quotes from others that have supported and enriched my life. So far my choices have been spiritual, profound. Today’s selection is lighter, but important as well, I think. It has helped me bring my perspective back to a healthier place more […]

Raymond Carver, 2

Jeane Painting

I have always appreciated the simplicity of Raymond Carver’s voice. This poem has spent lots of time on my refrigerator. Beloved And did you get what you wanted, from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.

Rules For Being Human

Contemporary Arts

A friend once worked as a guide for a wilderness program for troubled youth called Aspen Academy out of Loa, Utah. He brought this home from the field once and I thought it was so useful I’ve carried it around ever since. I hope you’ll find it instructive, too. Rules For Being Human 1. You […]

The Cookie Thief

Re-Birthday

Once again, I am guilty of losing the source of this quite sweet poem. It’s such a great reminder that what we think we’re seeing isn’t always what’s real, so I wanted to share it with you. Let’s all try to be flexible with our perceptions! The Cookie Thief A woman was waiting at the […]

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
