My Neighbors

My Neighbors

The pastures around my house get rented out to people for grazing through the spring, summer and fall. One morning I awoke to three mares and their three colts pastured right next to me. They were a constant joy. The little ones played all day until they couldn’t play anymore. Then they would collapse in […]

New Life on the Llano

Davida

When I first moved here the small herd of horses I ended up caring for (see previous post Coming to New Mexico) was pastured on four acres in front of my house and their people lived elsewhere. That December brought several early snowstorms and one of these was in its second day. My Jeep had […]

The High Road to Taos

The High Road to Taos

We are coming to the close of our season up here on the High Road. Traditionally, it runs from the first of July through the end of September or October, weather depending. Anna and I will close the gallery shortly and move into our home studios to paint. The season has been good to us. […]

Winter On the Rise

Fireplace for Winter

The weather is turning up here on the mountain. Fall colors held off for the longest time because it’s been so warm and there had been no frost. But there’s a nip in the air now and the trees are coloring. We’ve been having fires in the gallery for a couple of weeks now. Truchas […]

A Walk With Friends

Walk With Friends

So Kelee and I headed out for our daily walk and were soon joined by a couple of visitors—two horses—that followed us all the way out to the Llano. I have to say we created quite a stir with our herd when we arrived at Kelee’s old homestead. Luckily I had my camera and, as […]

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
