Happy New Year!

December 31, 2010 by Jeane George Weigel

Hidden Fears, A Fear Story

I don’t remember where I first saw this beautiful piece of writing. Probably many of you are already familiar with it, but it holds within it the wishes I have for all of us as we move into a new year, so I wanted to share it with you today. The Invitation It doesn’t interest […]

Finding Time for Your Art

December 30, 2010 by Jeane George Weigel

Back to the studio

One of the challenges you’ll face as you try to get to your art is finding the time. Aside from the various excuses you’ll manufacture from pure fear and avoidance, life does ask a lot of us and there are genuine tasks we must address before we can paint (or sculpt, or photograph, or throw […]

Marianne Williamson – Our Deepest Fear

December 29, 2010 by Jeane George Weigel

Being Human

This statement is often attributed to Nelson Mandela, which I’ve always thought was pretty funny because I just could never picture him using the word “fabulous”. But it is a truly wonderful quote by Marianne Williamson and I CAN see her using it: Our deepest fear Is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear […]

Beginning to Paint (Again)

December 28, 2010 by Jeane George Weigel

Night Skye

OK, so the actual day to begin to paint for the season has arrived. I’m going to take notes of each step, and photos, as I take the plunge, but first there was one thing I had to do before getting here: Step 1 Go through all my materials to see what I have and […]

A Little Help From My Friends

Traditionally, my animals have been my support system and, this year, along with their continued efforts, I want to invite you into the studio with me…

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays

I wanted to share a bit of New Mexico’s traditional beauty with you and I figured there was no better way than by paying a visit to my three favorite spots in Chimayo.

Christmas In Taos

December 23, 2010 by Jeane George Weigel

Christmas in Taos

My friends Nancy Ortenstone and Pierre Delattre just moved into a new gallery space in Taos (Ortenstone Delattre Fine Art, 115 Bent Street, 575.737.0799), and had their grand opening recently, which I attended. I’ll be doing individual pieces on Nancy and Pierre later in the blog, but I wanted to share some photos of the […]

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
