10 Things I Love About Being An Artist, #2

November 18, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

I never just paint. Something stirs in my soul. I experience a sort of collective sigh. My heart smiles in some ancient recognition that is surely shared. In these moments I am every artist who has ever watched a work of art being born.

Inspiration Births Itself – by Vivian Gordon

November 16, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

For all its uncertainty and fragility, birth is dispassionate and compelling. How else does life answer its longing for itself?

Popsicle Dog, Truchas, NM

My Finn has very little fur on his chest and tummy and he didn’t have a sweater. My boy was getting cold in the night!

10 Things I Love About Being An Artist, #1

November 14, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

The fire is crackling, the animals are snoozing and I am at the easel. That has to be my very favorite thing, standing up to my easel. It’s like I’m full—full of energy and light, purpose, a reason to be.

Winterizing in Truchas, NM

November 11, 2011 by Jeane George Weigel

It’s the time of year when winter and fall are battling it out up here in the mountains of northern New Mexico. One day it’s sunny and warm and the next it’s gray and cold.

A Couple of Reasons to Rescue Animals

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
