Wild and Free: A Feast From the Land

August 3, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Recently, I attended their workshop on wild and raw food. OMG what a revelation! Before attending I had very little interest in the topic. Now I would like to figure out how to incorporate at least some of their wisdom into my life.

A Day at the Beach by Anne Lamott

August 1, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Anne Lamott is one of my favorite writers. She is bright and witty and seems to always cut to the core of an issue. I’ve packed this article around with me for years, finding humor and support whenever my own sense of self was lagging.

Jane’s Sole Piccata

July 31, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I left a very good friend in Seattle. Her name is Jane Perovich and one of the reasons she came up was that we were making her truly delicious Sole Piccata.

July 30, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

My friend Kim Moss has moved back to Truchas and is living in his Airstream on my property for the summer. We’ve been doing lots of cooking and I wanted to share this wonderful recipe for his delicious young artichoke hearts.

I wanted you all to know that the blue morning glories are not only planted, they’re THRIVING! I’ve snagged a photo of only one blossom.

Kim Moss’s Sumptuous Cherry Crumble

July 27, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Cherries have been plentiful up here on the mountain lately, so Kim decided to make a cherry crumble. It is wonderful, as well as easy, so I recommend it to you all.

A Very Cool Tree House in Truchas, NM

July 26, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I should know EVERYTHING about this place, right? Well, I found out the other day that I don’t. When my friend, LaShanda Epp, took Kim and me out to see the buffalo, she asked if we wanted to also see the tree house.

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
