Letting Go, the Natural Order of Things

November 5, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

This seems to be a natural order of things, the cycle of life, birthing and dying, coming and going, yet we human beings often have trouble with the idea of letting go. We hold on, sometimes fiercely–to old ways of being…

Small Pleasures: Finding Joy Where it’s Least Expected

November 4, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I got up REALLY early today, which I love. My clock said 4AM but we all know it was really 5. Welcome to the biannual time change everybody (except for those of you in Arizona)!

Beauty Offered Every Single Day

November 3, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I swear that dog appreciates beauty. Perhaps this comes from his previous life, neglected and chained up, nearly starved to death. And I’ve made a vow to myself. I’m taking a lesson from Finn…

An Antidote for Pain

November 2, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

I have considered creating an alter ego for High Road Artist, a sort of “High Road Artist Exposed—the Dark Side,” an outlet where I can whine and NOT find the silver lining. And, while the thought made me laugh…

The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe

In honor of Halloween what better to post as a Wisdom Wednesday piece than Edgar Allen Poe’s famous poem The Raven? Happy Halloween to you all!

Simple Country Peach Tart

October 30, 2012 by Jeane George Weigel

Kim made this recipe up as he went along. And he wanted to remind you all to check in your refrigerator for items you might use. Get creative. He mixed lingonberries and guava jam to make a sort of glaze on the crust and also to top the whole tart off.

Finding Messages in Night Dreams

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
