Have You Ever Entered… by Mary Oliver

Have you ever tried to enter the long black branches of other lives tried to imagine what the crisp fringes, full of honey, hanging from the branches of the young locust trees, in early morning, feel like?

Trading Post Cafe & Gallery, Taos, NM

Whenever we go to Taos, Anna and I like to treat ourselves to lunch at the Trading Post Cafe & Gallery. It is one of my favorite restaurants in all of New Mexico after all. In fact I highly recommend that any of you traveling the High Road plan on having lunch or dinner at this lovely establishment. You’ll be glad you did.

Cats Being Cats

I don’t know how many of you live with cats, but those of us who do, know they really love their comforts. I took this picture of my crew on a cold day after that big snowstorm we had. I really should have shot a series, because they were following the patches of sun across the bed.

My House From the Gallery

I’ve shared so many photos with you all of my house and yard and the views I see from them. But the other day, while sitting the gallery, I realized I’d never given you a perspective of where I live. This view of my house from the gallery is one of my favorites.

Anna Karin Gallery, Truchas, NM: New Planters!

I’ve mentioned several times in earlier posts that Bill Loyd is making huge planters for our gallery out of rusty metal. Are we lucky or what? And he just installed the first two. The third will be placed in the corner at the front of the building…

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
