The New Mexico Sky

Leap of Faith

I have quoted several times in this blog from William deBuys’ wonderful book, The Walk, so I thought we should feature something from him on a Wisdom Wednesday. Much from this author has moved me, so you’ll be hearing more about his words and their effect on me, I’m sure. For this first piece, I’ve […]

Why is Making Art Hard?

The Judgement of Others

OK, the fact is I never know where a painting is going to take me. As I’ve said before, painting, for me, is like taking leap after leap in the dark. This is all well and good when those leaps are taking me someplace that looks GOOD while I’m leaping. But there are days when […]

What Just Happened?

What Just Happened

Something happened the other day and I don’t know, yet, what it was. Kathy and I did a road trip to Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch as a treat on her last day here. I’d never been to either, which is amazing because they’re only about an hour and a half away from my house. For […]

Art – How much does my soul need to stay alive?

A Little Help From My Friends

Kathy just left for Albuquerque and the airport and a return flight home to Massachusetts. What an amazing three days we’ve had. About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
