First Snow of the Season, Truchas, NM

It’s quite unusual to get our first snow so early in October but I have to say the needed precipitation is wonderful! I awoke this morning to several inches of the white stuff, very WET white stuff, covering everything. The boys and I took a walk in the yard not long after sunrise. And then I kept snapping pictures after that as the sun came out and started melting the snow. They say it’s going to be 70 degrees all this week and by the time this posts it probably already is. But I’m loving this touch of early winter and hope it holds the promise of lots more snow to come. All these photos were taken in my yard. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world and I’m very glad to be able to share my good fortune with you.

Love to you all,
Jeane

How beautiful! The blue sky makes these pictures really pop with cheer.  Thanks for sharing Jeane.

Thanks Diane! I think it’s New Mexico’s PERFECT combination: snow and blue sky. Add to that all the blue shadows cast on the snow and I think it’s heaven. And I always love to share!

Does it always look this incredibly beautiful up there? There is something so profoundly spiritual about the Taos area that just draws me in.

Yes, I have to say it is always breathtakingly beautiful up here. I am constantly in awe every time I turn around. The high altitude light, alone, is enough to take me to my knees. It’s a privilege to live here and so inspiring to my “artist within.”

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
