A Walk With Friends

So Kelee and I headed out for our daily walk and were soon joined by a couple of visitors—two horses—that followed us all the way out to the Llano.

I have to say we created quite a stir with our herd when we arrived at Kelee’s old homestead. Luckily I had my camera and, as they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words. Here you go:

Jeane, I love how there are animlas just wandering thru your land:) Are these horses folks have set out to range for the winter or where do the loose ones come from? Are they yours in our human system of ownership or in a more lovely organic arrangement? Its all very wonderful to see. Thanks for sharing…looks like a Beeeeeeeeeuuuutiful day you had experienced.
May I find my perceptions free to embrace each awesome beauty today and always. I wish this for you also:)

    XOXOX

The horses aren’t free range. They must have just gotten out of their pasture but we have a lot of free range cattle moving through right now. They’re coming down from the mountain and moving into the valley. In the spring they move back up here and then go higher for the summer. I have fairly often had horses drop by on my land though–and some cattle but Kelee moves them off pretty quickly. The Llano herd belongs to Kelee’s people. They’re out to pasture where Kelee used to live. The house is still abandoned. Since I took care of them that first winter and spring we’re still attached. They did NOT like two other horses showing up with me. They were basically saying, “Go away! She’s OURS!”

Yes, animals ARE posessive or what ever animal experts would call it:) All I know is our dogs ALL want a piece of me at the same time…ALWAYS lol. They are not very big so it is not a large issue. I love them like babies.
When we head to bed they are soooooo happy…they all snuggle in on the bed and relax….like Ahhhhh finally.

        XOXXOX

        Miss you

        Grace

WE’RE the animal experts I say and I think possessive is the perfect word. My in-house 7 have figured out a balance so everybody gets the loving they desire. When I settle in for the night I can have 3 cats sharing my lap, one on my shoulders, Skye in the chair next to me and Kelee at my feet. It’s a LITTLE less crowded when I go to bed. Your dogs are much smaller than mine! Miss you too.

I don’t know whose they are. I’ve seen the blond one roaming several times since. I’m trying to tamp down my animal magnetism! I THINK it’s working. Glad you’re liking the stories. It’s nice to have you along. Tomorrow’s is a story about Anna.

I love the photo of the Keelee (my KMan honey) working the horses. Did you ever manage to get the frayed red bridle from one of the horse girls? And I am not surprised the girls (and boy) did not like the two intruders but what a wonderful walk that must have been. Are you covered in snow yet?

No, the bridle’s still on her but getting more and more thread bare so it won’t be long. No snow yet. It was nearly 70 today!

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
