A New Friend For Skye

It seems Skye’s world is simply bursting at the seams. She has a new friend! (see previous posts Night Skye, A Celebration of Skye’s First Year and Rescue Dog Braves the Great Outdoors: Skye Breaks Free) My friend, Julie, came by this morning with my paper and brought her cuter-than-anyone-has-a-right-to-be white chijaujau, Scooby, with her. Scooby LOVES Skye, but he’s a little bit scared of Kelee (don’t tell him I told you that). This was their first real introduction, so I took a few photos for you of the momentous event. Scooby was nervous about being outside so we put them in the kitty enclosure. Here you go:

new friends
new mexico machismo
an introduction
skye's first peek
gentle kelee
mom?
sneak peek
truchas visitor
closer
truchas buddies
just a quick sniff
center of attention
the kiss
kitty enclosure together
play time
big boy in the grass
saying good bye
the ride home
nicely tucked

Love to you all,
Jeane

I did not see Finn in the process…he was one too many new friends to add to the meet and greet?

Sky and Scooby seemed very relaxed in the cat enclosure:) That looked like a confidence builder for both and a positive memory to have associated with the outing:)

Probably for Scooby so MANY new large dogs at one time is daunting lol. Kelee and Scooby could be great friends perhaps with a little one on one time maybe? Packs make their peace with the order they establish though right, so its all good!!
Thanks for sharing the photos:) Friends are FUN…for pets and their people lol.

    CUTE CUTE CUTE:)

Hi Julie:) We have not met – I am Grace:) Nice to meet you via blog.

Oh dear, dear, dear! You guys have caught me! Judy Nelson brought up the Finn question on FB too. Here’s what happened–this is an older post from BEFORE Finn came to live with us, that kept getting pushed back on the calendar. Normally I would have updated and refreshed the piece before publishing it (a little meet and greet for Finn and Scooby before hand) but Adam had to go to Italy (!!!!) and he needed to put up weeks worth of posts before he left and that left me unable to fuss with the posts before they were pre-published. So IT’S ALL ADAM’S FAULT! I promise a Finn and Scooby post sometime in the future. They haven’t met yet but I’m confident Finn will find love with Scooby. Scooby, on the other hand, may be a little overwhelmed by my big chunk a’ dog, as one reader put it. Now you know: sometimes the blog doesn’t happen in real time 🙂

Cute meeting for all the dogs! Then having it turn into dog playdate outside! LOL Thanks for such a cute post! I was talking to my husband how nice that must be for dogs to meet and how our little Raider (whom you can see if you go to my facebook page and look at the photo’s) doesn’t get a chance to be around dogs that much! Why just today our neighbor across the street from us has Raiders brother and brought him over and all Raider could do was bark at him. I tryed slowly bringing him closer to Sparky (the nieghbors dog; his brother) and they sniffed and it looked like it would be good but then all of a sudden Raider had to be the big Alpha Dog and start barking to show how tuff he was and that this was his home where Sparky didn’t belong! Sparky on the other hand just wanted to be friends! Oh well what are you going to do! Raider seems to bark at everything he sees; even people passing by. Great post though! Very cute pictures! Take Care, Cin =)

It takes time for dogs to be socialized, especially if they haven’t been exposed to other dogs since they were young. Skye barked like crazy at Finn when he first came in. Now they play all the time. You should keep trying to get Raider and Sparky together–maybe in the yard or at Sparky’s house. Do you have a local dog park? That’s a good place to teach dogs how to be with other dogs. Glad you liked the post. Scooby is SO cute!

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
