Dust If You Must

I’m really liking these “Wisdom Wednesdays”. It gives me a chance to share meaningful quotes from others that have supported and enriched my life. So far my choices have been spiritual, profound. Today’s selection is lighter, but important as well, I think. It has helped me bring my perspective back to a healthier place more times than I can count. I no longer know its author, if ever I did. May this inspire you to do something fun.

“Dust if you must but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go and go you must, you, yourself, will make more dust.”

Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write “I love you” on the furniture…

Awesome:) I LOVE IT. I am soooo not a caretaker of others socks anymore…does that make sense? I think it comes from years of washing so many clothes that weren’t/aren’t mine LOL! There is a time and a place for every thing under the sun…and stars I reckon…

    All my love,

    Grace

Yes, indeed, it does make sense. It’s too easy to let the tasks of a life over take us. I am MUCH better at living with clutter, and dust. I was responding about this little poem to a reader on the FB fan page. She brought up dust bunnies and I told her Kelee manufactures so much fur I don’t so much have dust bunnies as dust WOLVES! They’re sort of recycling members of the family. So, today, let’s go paint a picture, or plant a seed. We’re already writing that letter!

I liked this one for it made me chuckle! Well my house must be a home cause there has been times that I can write I love you on the furniture! LOL! More important things to do like getting ready to paint and create! =)

I think relaxation is a state of mind not a state of being still:)

Beautiful quote Grace. Thanks! And I agree with you completely. It’s an ongoing practice for me.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
