This advice has been profound in my life. I’ve been growing into it over the last fifteen years as Rilke suggests. I am forever grateful.
“I beg you… to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without ever noticing it, live your way into the answers…”

OH SAGE ADVICE. Patience is required and I am slowly building the muscle for it. Thanks Jeane!

Yes, that patience muscle is an amazing thing and, just like belly fat, it gets flabby really fast when we don’t exercise it! But be gentle with yourself. I think if you look back you’ll find countless examples of your having “lived your way into the answers…”
