No matter how much we simplify the holidays, there is always that “let down” once they are over, isn’t there? I mean New Year’s Eve is on the way but even that is a reminder of an ending: Christmas is over, the year is ending…
But the New Year beckons and this is a time to reflect and prepare to begin anew.
Here’s to a peaceful, quiet, week of rest; to a new year being born, filled with promise.
Love to you all,
Jeane

Yes! I was just having this apre holiday recognition myself…the very moment before your post popped up. A very MEH feeling – vaguely melancholy – with the simultaneously recognition of just how full the actual moment is. Looked up “After Holiday” syndrome…to find an article of how to “cope” with the time frame. BUT it was not to happen until AFTER the New Years events lol. I think I will join my sister in her welding class in January…AND dig into the new graphics tablet I got for Christmas – TODAY:)!!!! We humans are an emotional group… thank goodness. XOXOXOX

Yes, indeed we are an “emotional group.” I think the end of Christmas puts us into that betwixt and between place. The old is dying or dead but the new hasn’t been born yet. At least we are conscious of it and can do something–your new graphics tablet, my new book–to find comfort in the unknown that is opening.

i’m still enjoying the Christmas part and not counting it as over. still gifts to wrap for people I haven’t seen, still dishes to clean a little, and tablecloths in place. not back to work until tomorrow. that will be a feeling of let down! until then going with the flow….

I’m glad, Alison, that you were able to hold onto the spirit of Christmas a bit longer. By now you’ve been back to work and I hope the let down wasn’t too great. Now New Years is just ahead with its offer of more celebration. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wishing you much joy in the coming year.

We should be going into a state similar to hibernation now, when we will take cover from the storms, carve a new handle for our axe while sitting in front of the fire, and wait for the time to start getting ready to break ground for the next year’s crop. Today we fight it, the days are very short so we turn on lights. We may well upset ourselves.

I think you disappointed the cat. He thought in his christmas doldrums he would have a little wine, but he finds it gone.
