First Snow, First Fire, First Post

This is the first post I’ve published entirely on my own! I’m tasting the power and playing with this new-found ability to publish in real time. Mostly I just wanted to share a few photos with you. And I want to start using the blog more as I’ve been using the facebook page.

Along with the gorgeous Fall we’ve been having up here on the mountain…

… we also had our FIRST SNOW of the season! It was such a surprise and so beautiful! We were left with a dusting of snow on the mountain…

… and, of course, the first snow also demanded the first fire which all the animals loved. Here’s a rare photo of Kelee warming himself by the stove. Usually he’s my guy out rolling in the snow to cool off but on this day he chose the fire.

So winter is on the way and Walter delivered the last of my wood. Yay!

The weather guys are now saying that El Nino has shifted its course and we’re going to have a dry winter. I sure hope that’s not true. We very much need the snow for its life-giving water. And I need the snow because its pure beauty soothes my soul.

So let’s take this new-found freedom out for a spin, shall we? Let’s use the blog to ask and answer questions or to present thoughts. Write to me in the “Contact” section and let’s see what kind of dialog we can get going. I’ll publish the ones that resonate with me. Please let me hear from you about almost anything, OK?

Love to you all,

Jeane

I love the photos dear and it is novel to imagine you having written this today. So you used to send them to the Webmaster and he compiled and posted them for you over time in the past?

Beware, fair artist, you have offered a wide open door. I still lurk out here and may well bury you in a babel of bull.
I ask if you would set out some sort of parameter regarding subject matter, so we don’t waste each other’s time. Your blog already plainly suggests the subject matter, but if you want to be boss here, please boss me.

Well, first of all, as I said, I will publish those questions, thoughts and stories that resonate with me. That would be good writing and an interesting perspective–something unique. I am not looking to hear constantly from the same voice. In other words I am not inviting anyone to “bury [me] in a babel of bull.” Your writings will go onto the “Contact” form and I will choose what to put on the blog.

Re: subject matter: I want it to be pertinent to the blog i.e. about art and living one’s truth. I’m not looking for arguments or aggression or the picking apart of another person’s thoughts.

I am not “bossing” anyone but it is my blog and I reserve the right to publish pieces that work for me.

I am broken hearted that you are not laughing at my babel of bull.
Do not worry, I don’t have the energy to literally do that.
You are the boss because it is your blog, and I honor that. I will try not to cross your threshold whit crummy crap.

Thanks Laura. It’s fun to have the “power.” 🙂

That photo is my backyard leading out to the land grant. Glad you like it. Thanks for letting me know.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
