It’s Sunday up here on the mountain–Sunday morning (well I know it’s Sunday everywhere else too, except for certain time zones), but there is just something very special for me about Sunday mornings. I started my day by taking a walk with the dogs, which is always nice:
The sun was just rising above the mountain:
And we met up with all of our usual friends:
On my return Kim (see previous post A Very Mini Artist Colony in New Mexico) suggested French Toast. Yes! What a perfect breakfast to celebrate this wonderful day.
It is the very best French toast I have ever had, truly.
I highly recommend it to every one of you. In fact I’m thinking you may as well try it today, on this lovely Sunday morning. Then let me know what you think.
Happy Sunday to you all!
French Toast
3 eggs
1 cup half and half
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 T maple syrup
Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Bread (with or without raisins)
3 T butter
Mix all ingredients except the bread and butter in a flat dish. Soak the bread for about 30 seconds (frozen slices are best because you don’t want the egg mixture to saturate the bread).
In a large skillet melt all the butter (do not scrimp on this–it’s very important in getting a crunchy edge). Add the bread slices and cook until brown on each side.
Love to you all,
Jeane

You are making me hungry. I have never heard of mixing the maple syrup right into the batter.
Some of us love you enough follow to your new site, although a bit of wisdom on facebook probably draws a lot of followers.

Thanks! Well, it’s not actually a new site. I started writing the blog before I created its FB page.
