A Poem by Mother Teresa

My Buddhist teacher gave this to me many years ago. It’s been something I’ve held onto ever since. Important wisdom to live by I think.

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat you.
Be honest anyway.

If you find happiness, people may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It never was between you and them anyway”.

– Mother Teresa

Just reading this for the first time (though it’s been here for probably awhile) and I LOVE IT! I have a journal for which I write down quotes, scriptures that I like, or just thoughts I’m having and this one is definitely going in it for me to read again and again. Especially when I am having a troubled time, all I have to do is read this and get back to prespective and feel better! Thank you for this post for it has touched me especially coming from Mother Terisa.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
