Fiestas are as much a part of New Mexico culture as they are in Spain and Mexico (see previous post Truchas, NM Fiesta!) and Truchas is no exception. Every year locals gather to celebrate life in this beautiful and remote village. There are floats and feasts and dancing. I was unable to attend this year but local photographer Richard Hasbrouck was there and offered these photos to share with you all so you could experience a bit of this wonderful and rich Spanish land grant culture. I give you Truchas’ Fiesta! Thank you Richard!
Love to you all,
Jeane

Richard did a wonderful job and I was so happy to be able to offer readers a bit of the sense of Fiesta.

Oh my! The last photo so beautifully expresses joy and the wonderful environment made of landscape and the color and movement of a culture.
HighRoadArtist says
Yes, I particularly love that last one too, for all the reasons you say.

Jeane, what a treat! My favorite photo is of the little girls racing toward the sombrero with their colorful anxious mothers watching from behind! They are all wonderful moments of a fun day…the best parade of color I have witnessed! The little town July4th parades around here and on the Oregon coast rival this parade, but the color display cannot be rivaled! And that beautiful sky and dancing clouds as a backdrop? Thanks for the treat Richard Hasbrouck!

His photos are such a treat! They not only capture a moment in time, but also a rich culture that continues to thrive in these villages.
