Reunited Horse Buddies

For whatever reason, several of the horses that are usually pastured alongside my road had been taken away, leaving only one gray stallion alone in the field. There had to be good reason for this because my neighbor, Wally, is very kind to his horses. But I watched the sweet, gentle, gray sort of pine for his buddies and it hurt my heart every time I passed by. But today, just as the monsoons are arriving in full swing, three of the other horses were back. And, I swear, if a horse could smile, my friend was grinning from ear to ear.

Love to you all,
Jeane

I am so glad they’ve been reunited! And I am sure they’re smiling. I admit that I have a soft spot for that buckskin.

That little buckskin is the sweetest horse I’ve ever met and the gray is quite in love with her. It’s so wonderful that they are all back together again. The gray is quite stoic, but I knew he was lonely.

That grey took my breath away the morning I drove out your road and saw him standing at the little green pond, luminous, like something out of a fairy tale. I didn’t realize in that moment as I passed by that he was so sad. I hope the others are there to stay for a while….

You should see him under a full moon–simply stunning. Well, I may have been projecting a little, but he’s always had at least the buckskin with him. I’ve never seen him alone before so I imagine the others, in some combination, are here to stay.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
