It occurred to me the other day as I stepped past this patch of alfalfa on my land, how I often take for granted so much of what went before. Horses and cattle all love alfalfa, particularly when it is flowering. My entire yard and the surrounding pastures were once lush alfalfa fields and these beautiful clumps come up every year as a reminder of what used to be. As much as I love their wild beauty, I often cut big swaths of it to offer to neighboring horses and cows. And let me tell you, that makes me a very popular neighbor. I know a couple of horses that come trotting to the fence at the sight of my car. It makes me happy to have this evidence of heritage that I can still participate in.
Love to you all,
Jeane

I love that in your photo, the alfalfa patch is in the shape of a heart. How apropos. Love your blog, by the way.
