Surprising Visitors to the Gallery

Suellen Shapero has been following the blog for some time. I met her with her husband, Ed, at Hand Artes Gallery last season, and I guess one time before that in Anna and my gallery when we were in a previous location. At the same time I was introduced to their very good friends Susan and Bob (Susan has been following the blog for awhile now too). Anyway, Suellen reached me some time ago to say they were all four going to be in New Mexico again and were hoping to come by the gallery. Absolutely! Anna and I were there with bells on.

Until that afternoon, I had no idea how richly interesting these people really are. You just can’t know anything about a person in a 20 minute introduction. But on this day, we sat in the gallery and talked about everything under the sun—deep, meaningful, connecting conversations—the kind that change how you see the other—one of those magical afternoons you simply can’t plan, they just happen when everything is in alignment.

And it turns out that Suellen writes her own blog—a wonderful blog in fact. I knew you all would want to check it out. I’m now a subscriber: http://artistoftheeveryday.wordpress.com/.

Just the other day Bob sent me this photo. I wanted to post it because days like these are meant to be shared.

Suellen and Ed are staying in New Mexico for a month, so I genuinely look forward to another visit and hope more of you will decide to come to call.

Love to you all,
Jeane

It’s really a nice blog, isn’t it? They are wonderful people. I know you would enjoy them (and their 2 dear dogs). Yes, an interesting pull between the NW and the SW. I think there is something very similar, and yet very different, about the energy of the 2 places.

What a lovely post!  It was a magical day.  That’s what comes from spending enough time to get below the surface.  And we all certainly did!  Thanks for the “blog visit”.  It brings it all back!

Hope this works this time.  I’ve been having a hard time posting my comments.
Love the “blog nod” to what was a magical day…the kind that reveals what is below the surface if you spend the time to look .  Thanks again to you and Anna for that great day!

There is an approval period for some comments. I’ll remove that from yours so your comments will go straight through.

It truly was a magical day. I’m glad Bob sent this photo so I was able to pay “homage” to it on the blog.

Thanks for the kind words about my blog and including our visit on your blog.  I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the gallery and getting to know you better, and I loved meeting Anna.  I knew the first time I met you that I wanted to get to know you better.  I’m sorry we never got back up to see you again while we were in NM – the month flew by.  We spent time looking at real estate and are actually putting an offer in on a house.  We both fell in love with it, so although we won’t be there permanently until April of next year, we decided to go for it – it just felt right!  I’ll keep you posted.  If this isn’t “the one” I trust that the universe will be guiding us – it brought us to Santa Fe after all.  I love hearing about your time on Vashon.  We’re going to head over there again this summer some time and hopefully it won’t be raining as it has on all our previous visits. But I will say we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and met some interesting artists.  Thank you once again for the great day we had with you and Anna.  I hope to reciprocating once we’re settled into our new life in NM.
    Love,
    SE

That is so exciting about your house! You’ll be neighbors! I completely understand about time racing by and not getting a chance to get back up here. I like to think the day we spent together was so perfect that the universe just wanted to hold it in a special place. Send me some pics when you go to Vashon. It is truly a beautiful place.  Love, Jeane

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
