You all have seen this shot of my yard about a million times by now. It’s the path back up from the land grant so I walk it every afternoon. You’ve seen it buried in snow or brown with its winter grasses. I’ve posted photos of it iced over and delicately dusted with snow. But have you ever seen it deep in the new grasses of spring? I don’t think so (or if you have it was a whole year ago and long forgotten by now—even by me).
JUST LOOK AT THIS! Lush spring grasses are popping up all over. Wildflowers are even offering their delicate beauty here and there. The hummingbirds are back and songbirds are here to stay. Butterflies dance in the clear blue light and the rabbits and lizards are showing themselves (not to mention the gophers). My yard has suddenly sprung to life. Ah, spring. Finn lazes in the sun; Kelee rolls in the fragrant green. Could it really ever be better than this?
Love to you all,
Jeane

Your land grant spring is glorious!! I LOVE spring:)
The birds trilling in the morning sun is absolutely enlightening music. I will record the sounds early one morning to keep for listening to in the winter lol. Here the woodpeckers rat-tat-tat on the huge Maple tree from dawn to dusk and a wide variety of birds inhabit the back yard for songs aplenty.
This song of course comes to mind:
The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in SeattleAnd the hills the greenest green, in SeattleLike a beautiful child, growing up, free an’ wildFull of hopes an’ full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle . . . in Seattle!
