How to Spice Up Your Windows!

Remember I told you that master carver Isabro Ortega was going to make window pieces for our Anna Karin Gallery windows (see previous post Anna Karin Gallery: Warming the Exterior)? Well, he delivered them! Anna and I were thrilled. Enough so that we set our alarms early the following day so we could go down to Espanola and buy paint before we needed to open the gallery for the day. And we set right to work painting them. That’s two coats front and back, even with the primer built in—a lot of surface there folks! But we were happy to do it. We put on music and began.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with old adobe houses, this is a lovely treatment that many of them share. Next time you’re in Santa Fe or driving the High Road, take a look around and you’ll be surprised by how many you’ll see. We think they’re going to make a big difference to the outside of the gallery.

Coming next: Isabro installs the window pieces! Stay tuned because you won’t want to miss that.

Love to you all,
Jeane

They are beautiful:)!  Are they to go on all windows? I am interested to see if they make less natural sunlight light in the gallery and if so how that works.

We LOVE them! And, yes, they’re going on all three windows. They’re already installed (you’ll be seeing that on Monday). Anna thought they’d cut down on the interior light but they don’t. And in the big front window you see them from inside the room and they’re very beautiful.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
