I love my life. Just the other day my friend, Vera, (see previous post Making Dragons in Cordova) invited Anna, Bill and me over for an afternoon potluck. She and Nickolas live one village down the mountain in Ojo Sarco. It was sunny and warm and, even more important, still. Not a breath of wind. We spent the entire day outside. Simply lovely.
Others were there as well, including Jose and Theresa Maestas whom I was meeting for the first time. He’s a carver and she is a beader. Theresa happened to have a few pieces of her work with her and I was captivated. She’s beaded breathtaking feathers, hat bands, medicine pouches, large bags, little dolls. Some of the beads were no larger than grains of sand. I have no idea how she can do what she does, but her work is magical. Here’s a photo of some of her feathers she’s made for Vera. Anna and I will be carrying some in the gallery:
It was such a perfect day up here in the mountains of northern New Mexico that, of course, I wanted to share it with you. So I took pictures. Welcome to my day:
Love to you all,
Jeane

It really was a wonderful day. Always a privilege to hang out with Native Americans. These two individuals were amazing–soulful and artful. An amazing combination.

Thank you Linda. I hope you will come sometime. Truchas–and New Mexico–are not places one should miss.
