Okay, I can’t help it. I’m over the moon about the arrival of spring! Living up here at 8500 feet, the winters can be long and cold. I don’t mind winter and its extra chores (dealing with wood for the wood heater, for one, and shoveling snow). I rather like all that in fact. The beauty of deep cobalt blue shadows on fields of freshly fallen snow is hard to beat—that and the piercing bright stars of a winter’s night. But I saw my first blue bird today—a little finch-sized bit of living color that made my heart sing. So I’ll say goodbye to winter for another year, with gratitude for the snow we’ve received, and will fully embrace the spirit of spring.
In celebration, I’ve taken off the flannel sheets and splurged on a new set of Marimekko—their classic Red Poppy pattern. The enclosed literature noted that the designers aim to bring joy to everyday life. They certainly have to mine. It’s the little things, right? Raven seems to agree.
Love to you all,
Jeane
