Okay, several of you have written to me about a deep desire to move to New Mexico. Some of you are very serious. So I wanted to tell our blog community that there is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move into a wonderful place here in Truchas, New Mexico.
My friend, Julie, owns the old Lisa Law commune that was made famous in the 70s by a Life Magazine article (see previous post Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix Were Here). She is looking for a roommate.
She owns 16 acres, I believe, with a gorgeous old adobe house you would share. You could farm the land if you were so inclined, bring your well-behaved dog (must get on well with chickens, goats, a lamb and cats) and/or horse… talk to Julie about any combination.
It’s a large house and you would split the upstairs with Julie. There is a bedroom at each end. The downstairs would be shared. There is only one bathroom, but a HUGE kitchen. It’s heated with wood. I can’t even begin to tell you how charming this place is. Men or women are welcome.
Unless you can generate income independently (an artist/writer/off-site computer worker?), you would likely need to commute to Santa Fe (40 minutes away), Taos (1 hour) or Espanola (20 minutes) for work.

Oh, I wish it was a fit. Julie’s great as is the place. The gallery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays now–and snow days. We’re also closing full time in Jan. & Feb. We’ll see about March.
