Anna Karin Gallery, Truchas, NM: Final Touch

We’ve decided we need one last sign—this to go on the canyon side of the road, just opposite our building. You see, we realized that when folks are driving up here, they are looking at the stunning Sangre de Cristo Mountains that rise high above that canyon, NOT AT OUR GALLERY on the other side of the street! Duh. So Bill Loyd (bless him) is making a huge crow with an arrow that points directly at us. It will sort of float in their field of vision up there in all that expanse of sky and mountain. THAT they will see.

And we will have done everything we can to catch people’s attention. Beyond this, it will just take being here consistently, year after year, so people will know to look for us, so they will know we are here.

This will be the last and final touch on our beautiful new gallery home. I mean I’m pretty sure it’s the last… I can’t think what else we might do… we’re definitely, totally, entirely finished, right guys? Oh yeah, until we start winterizing…

Love to you all,
Jeane

What a labor of love this is.  So exciting to create something from scratch.  Happy for all of you!
(Hey, I sold 5 paintings last month!)

Thanks Ginny! And to think you saw it when we were just beginning. Didn’t look like much then, did it? Congrats on the sales! Was that out of your downtown gallery in St. George? I’m loving the direction of your work! Hey, maybe we could do a long-distance post about you taking my class and changing how you paint. People would be inspired by that. Let’s talk about it.

Come on up! I’m here most Tuesdays and Wednesdays and every other Saturday, unless we shift the schedule like today.  🙂  It IS a beautiful bird, isn’t it?

He is indeed the MAN! Where would we be without him? Our gallery would be very different. It’s lovely how we each bring something unique to the project and we sort of “feed” each other–the ideas get better and better as we join our creativity into one focused intention.

Great sign! That will definitely get everybodys attention! Make it and they will come! (Just a little humor in there, couldn’t resist). All kidding aside, I know they will come for it is a great gallery and word will get around…someone will or some people will visit it and then they will tell someone or some people and then vahla a ripple effect and they will all start to flow in. The sign is a spendid addition! Great job by your friend Bill! Take Care, Cin =)

P.S. Have you guys maybe posted it in a near big town newspaper?

We really are confident that more and more people will find us. Sales have kicked into gear so that’s nice. We’re committing to a long-term lease so we BELIEVE! We love this place, as do all who’ve come to visit so far, and we know it will be good to us.

Advertising rates in the Santa Fe paper are beyond us, I’m afraid, but we did advertise in The Essential Guide and do every year. You should check them out online. They’re a great publication–an art book that’s out for the full year and most visitors to the region end up with them. That pretty much consumes our ad budget for the year though.

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
