Art Opening at Hand Artes Gallery, Truchas, NM

Art Opening

There was a wonderful opening at Hand Artes Gallery here in Truchas this past Saturday (see previous post Disparate Pieces).

The subject of the show was the nude and its title, “Nude Year 2011: Voices of the Body,” expressed very well the great mix of art from several local artists including Anna Karin, Terry Gates, Alberto Castagna, Pierre Toutain-Dorbec and Trish Booth Pieterse to name a few.

This is just one example of the rich and artful life we live up here on the High Road, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but actually in the middle of it all.

The opening was very well attended and I offer, here, some photos for those of you who were unable to be there and as reminiscences for those of us who were. Thank you, Brian Flowers (see previous post Art For the Village), for curating such a splendid show!

Love to you all,
Jeane

So glad you liked the post. Brian did a great job, didn’t he? Pulling together so many disparate pieces (who’s that remind you of?). Just wish the two of you could have been there, but in one more month… I’m practicing patience! Dinner at my house as soon as you’re settled.

Well done, Jeane. I felt as though I was present! Also I loved the blog yesterday. Absolutely loved the photos of the artist with his art talking about art so simply stated that a novice understands. Blog on!

Thanks dear. It’s actually fun for me to watch the blog unfold. It’s shifting and changing and taking on a life of its own. Glad you’re along for the ride. I’m going to Taos to get your canvas tomorrow 🙂

I’m glad you liked it Trish. Thanks! My only regret is that, somehow, I didn’t get a photo of Leonardo’s wonderful piece. Thanks, too, for reposting.

Thanks Grace. I’m glad you felt a part of it. Those of us who live here are so blessed. It’s nice to share.

I’m so very sorry to hear about your Father. I didn’t know. I’m sending some special New Mexico energy to him, to you, and your family. Peace be with you.

I’m so glad you receive it in such a way. It’s exactly what I was trying to do. I’ll be posting photos from a great Santa Fe opening on Monday. I hope you’ll join us!

About Me

About High Road Artist IMG 9461 150x150I am Jeane George Weigel, a working artist living in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I do not think you and I are so different.

Every single one of us longs to know what we ache for, to “follow our bliss” as Joseph Campbell famously put it. You may find yours as an artist, a writer, or a teacher. But I am convinced we all yearn to live what is in our hearts. Some of us spend a lifetime discovering what that is. Some never find it.

This blog is about a journey of self-discovery, yours and mine. I write about the experience of living an artist’s life and share musings and photos as this living experiment unfolds. It is my hope you’ll join in the conversation by writing to me about your lives and I dearly hope something, here, will inspire you.
