Details, details, details! Every single time we go into the gallery with a firm idea of what we will get done, the gallery, and its own, lovely, winding process, seems to have other ideas for us. We felt quite certain we would be able to hang the remaining rooms today (we did complete that) as well as paint our new signs (done as well), direct all the lighting which also meant shifting bulbs around, and fully move into the studio, including collecting easels and supplies from our home studios AND do all the exterior touch up painting (no, no and no). But Bill came by and painted some “cans” for the lighting, mounted our address, touched up our sign mounts, dealt with some lighting issues, hung our gorgeous wind chime out front AND hung our lovely main room lamp. And Anna and I cleaned AGAIN. Seems like every time anything gets done around there the whole place needs to be cleaned. But I’m not complaining. It’s a loving thing we get to do, tidy up our new place. And of course we had to have a nice lunch. We tweaked: a new lace curtain in the bathroom, a great old bench in there for my little horse triptic… I honestly can’t remember what all we did. Anna and I sat in the main room at the end of the day having, you guessed it, margaritas and we couldn’t piece it all together.
But something very special did happen today. Our landlord’s mother, who was BORN in this house, came by and loved what we had done. She said she wished her father was alive to see it. There just couldn’t be any higher praise than that. So we left for the day feeling very satisfied and a little humbled.
So despite everything we still have to do we will open, after a fashion, today. And to mark this momentous occasion, I’m forgoing the regular Wisdom Wednesday post so you can be up to the minute with us. I’ll post photos from our opening day tomorrow, so stay tuned.
Love to you all,
Jeane, Anna and Bill
