I mentioned in another post a two ton safe that’s staying with the place. Our landlord collects antiques and he’d stored this prize in his rental property before we rented it and here’s the thing: it broke the front door coming in. So, since it’s in and he’d already repaired the door, he didn’t want to take it out again and we’re good with that. But here’s the other thing about the safe: it’s so heavy that anyplace its wheels touch the ground it breaks right through the floorboards. So it has to sit on its own sheet of plywood. That means even when it’s being moved it must stay on a sheet of plywood. All I can say is the notion of repositioning this thing out of the center of the room into the corner has been the cause of a few sleepless hours over the course of our project. But the day finally arrived to make the move and I’m just so grateful for Bill and Craig. It was amazingly challenging, but these two pulled it off.
There was also a similar situation with a cast-iron cookstove but, after the safe, it was a piece of cake.
Along with the moving of heavy things, we’re getting down to some of the details. Here’s a photo of our finished sign. We’re really happy with it:
And Anna and I took something of a break from the labor of putting this all together and played around with some of the fun things: curtains, light fixtures, furniture.
But tomorrow has us back to painting and cleaning and figuring out what to do with the entry doors. You know I’ll be posting updates, so stay tuned.
Love to you all,
Jeane, Anna, Bill and Craig
