Spring at Hand Artes Gallery, Truchas, New Mexico

Several of you have asked to see my new Micaceous Series, having watched me in process with it (see previous posts Birth of the New: The Micaceous Series and Artist Materials From the Land), so I thought I’d take you over for another look at Bill and Margaret Franke’s wonderful Hand Artes Gallery here in Truchas. Bill has featured much of this new work in one room of the gallery so you can see it all together. These are the pieces in which I’m using straw and mica from right here in Truchas. Just so you know, it is work that is best seen in person so that you can get very near to each piece. I brought you in close with my camera but it’s really not the same thing. In some of the close ups, though, you can actually see the mica glittering.

And since I was already there at the gallery I thought I’d give you a glimpse of some of the other works being shown. There was a conference going on in much of the gallery so I could really only get you into “my” room and the sunroom. But you know there will be other days and other visits, so stay tuned!

Love to you all,
Jeane
